If you answered him: 'I don't know." that is lying to him, and when he finds out, he will get upset with you. He will be upset, and will try to find someone to pin his anger on, and it will be you. So stay out of it, and tell him it is not your business, and if he wishes to know, he should speak to his daughter not you.
It would be a good idea to let your friend know what is her dad is asking. Let her deal with her situation with her dad on her own, in her own time. She should know what her dad is asking.
other than that. Stay out of it, and don't say more than that to her dad.

You need to speak to your friend and explain how you feel...
I would not tell the Deacon as it is not your place, just say i don't know !!!
If everyone is supsicious then she needs to be told, that really everyone knows they are just waiting to hear from her...
Keep strong for your friendjust remember its her choice whom and when she wants to tell her secret...

When my friend came out and I got those questions, I'd just say "It's really none of my business" and shrug. I had to talk to him and tell him how I was getting grilled from all our friends. He finally (in his own time) said I could answer them truthfully.

Of course do not tell him and do not lie. Tell him once and for all, "Do not ask me such questions. I mind my own business!"
