Gaylord is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 3,681. It is the county seat of Otsego County
Gaylord styles itself as an "Alpine Village" and the city center features many buildings with Tyrolean style motifs. Receiving abundant snowfall and experiencing mild summer temperatures, in recent years the area around Gaylord has become known for its many skiing and golf resorts, one of the largest such concentrations in the Midwest. Gaylord features an annual event in July known as the Alpenfest. Participants are encouraged to dress in traditional Swiss stylings.
Gaylord is also seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gaylord; it is by far the smallest settlement serving as the location of an active Roman Catholic cathedral in the United States.
Gaylord is the birthplace of the "father of information theory", Claude E. Shannon.
Highway signs denote that Gaylord rests on the 45th Parallel Line -- halfway between the equator and the North Pole

Beautiful place to visit. Been there many times. Go online Gaylord, MI and check out some of the websites. Michigan is full of places to visit all around that area.
I've also been to Hell---used to live there. How about Heaven, MI?

I've been to Gaylord before. It's a cute town with a Bavarian theme, and lots of golf courses. It's right off of I-75, and if you are heading up that way from points south, stop in a little town called Grayling. Hartwick Pines State Park is located there and has Michigan's last area of old growth forest. Pretty cool!

Most of these answers are really bad, but since your question was pretty vauge, I guess you can't really blame them. Gaylord is a michigander's vacation spot. It's called "up north" if you're from MI. Most the visitors probably own second homes there. If you want to know about the city in terms of is it a nice place to visit, then yes as long as you know what you want to do activity wise when you get there.

Yes, It is located on I-75, North of Bay City and Grayling, south of Mackinaw City. From Detroit it is about an 3.5 hour drive. Those that live in the southern part of the lower peninsula think it is "up north". It is in the very beautiful, more rural area of the lower peninsula. Its in Northern Michigan. Near the UP as well as Potoskey, Charlevoix and has great snow mobiling and hiking. The girls are ok the restaurants are well corny at best. Minimal night life but a good place to just chill for a few days.

my grandparents live near gaylord, and I am about 4 hours away from it. It's not a bad place, I actually enjoy it!

Yes! Ive been through there to get to Harbor Springs. The whole northern area of Michigan is beautiful. Once you get past, Mount Pleasant.
I'm going up that way for Thanksgiving!

Yep. I lived in Auburn Hills for 20 years, and now Grand Blanc for the last six months. And no, I haven't been to Hell and back. Coolest city name in Michigan: Bad Axe!
