Well with a good arm and good fielding abilities, he should play on the left side of the infield or in centerfield. But with his height, he should probably play up the middle (2B,SS). 1B, no offense, he should be a least 5'9'' if in highschool. 3B, well that's not a bad position for him. With his speed and again his good arm, centerfield is a better position than the corners because it's harder throw from center to home and you need speed to cover center.
So to wrap-up, if I was a coach, I would switch him off between 2B and SS. And CF if really needed. So just tell him to focus on infield skills.

Based on size...if he can run, Centerfield would be his best position. If his arm is very good, 2nd base (which is where his size & probably his frame would dictate) would be a waste. Either middle infield (SS or 2B) or CF would be his best options, without seeing him play. Based on your info, his size doesn't dictate him playing 3rd or 1st, or either LF or RF...the guys most teams want playing those positions are big hitters; Power guys.
Not saying your son doesn't have any power, but based on the 5'5" size, I would not think he hits 20 HR's a year.

With hi height, he should probably play shortstop or 2nd base. Generally outfielders and first basemen are taller because they have better reach. Middle infield is probably the best, especially if he has a good arm.

If he's playing in high school I would guess this isn't going to be his first year to play baseball. By the time I got to high school baseball I'd been pitching since about the 6th grade. Although I'd play other positions on off pitching days before I got to high school, I was a pitcher. I'm sure his coach will also have something to say about the position he plays.

i would say based on what you're sayin that second base shortstop catcher or centerfield would be his best options in terms of his size and abilities plus he doesn't need to have alot of power for those positions usually guys on the corners whether 1st base 3rd base or right or left field are bigger in size and have more power as that's what teams like but the most important thing is for your son to have fun

Sounds like the epitome of a good second baseman's build and attributes. Maybe left field, too. Possibly shortstop, although, it's better for someone taller to play there most of the time.
Not catcher, his speed goes to waste there.

Is he just trying to have fun or has he aspirations of being a pro? In the latter case, unless he is going to grow another 5-7 inches, he will be limited to SS, 2B, or catcher. Catcher is the fastest way to the pros, since you do not have to hit much.

I would have to say outfield because of his speed and arm. If he has a great arm he should be in right but if his speed is greater no question about center.

catcher is the best position. if he can throw really good and catch really good then you should teach him to play catcher. i played second base ond outfield for years but i was never really in the game til i played catcher. now i can't see myself anywhere else. or just have him try different positions and see what he likes.

I would say shortstop or second base, but if he has a good coach, he'll know where to play him. With his skills he should make the team regardless of having a desired position.
