Wondering why they don't just give women a ball park figure instead of a date? It's so much b.s. People go over, people come in under. A healthy pregnancy can end anywhere between 37 and 43 weeks. Due dates can make a person feel bad, if early and just plain miserable if late late late. What do you think?

Every one of my children was between 4 weeks early and 2 weeks early...when the doctor would give me my DUE DATE...I would laugh and say...okay we'll see you at least 2 weeks BEFORE then...I have 4 children and I was RIGHT every time!!!

I think many women would be upset if a doctor gave them the date plus or minus 5 weeks. Besides, just about everyone knows that the due date is a ballpark figure, so isn't it basically the same thing?

It's because a lot of women don't understand that this is exactly what a "due date" is. There is another term for it, one that is more commonly used by caregivers. You may see "EDC" and your date written on some of your files and papers. This means "estimated date of confinement." That's all it is.....an estimate. 2 weeks before or after that date is considered very normal.

i would rather know a round about due date instead of trying to guess when the miracle would happen. my son was two months early because i was sick and my daughter was right on time like the doctor said
