Go with characters. Both shows have a group of 6 best friends. Each character has similarities and differences. For instance, in Friends Joey is dumb in a funny kind of way just like Kelso is in That 70s Show. If you think about it I think you can come up with a lot more.

Besides both being comedies and both having excellent actors and actresses, I don't see any similarities between the 2.
I love That 70's Show, but do't like Friends.

-There is a smart friend, a dumb friend, the playboy, the pretty girl and the not very quick friend.
-They both revolve around relationships
-They both show things relevent to the time period their set in.
