For every working American and the (unearned American) accounting time comes April 15th.
Why cannot the 1040 Form etc. etc.... be used and incorporated with political elections. After all, politics and revenues work hand in (glove). The Internal Revenue Service would truly become the largest accounting service in the world.

Not everyone that claims a tax return is elgible to vote and some voters don't make income to claim any taxes. But the bottom line is why don't we do away with the IRS and go to a flat tax. A spendable tax, where everyone pays their fair share.
With all the money we saved there from the IRS downsizing big time, we could come up with a secure voting procedure.

Because they are called the Internal Revenue Service. It is a completely different office with too many responsibilities as it is.

Mainly because all elections are local. You don't just vote for president and Congress, you vote for the governor, the state legislature, judges, local city and county councillors, and in some areas even who the sheriff is.

Would you really want one single organization (at the Federal level) to be the only trusted organization counting those votes?

Not a bad idea. However, I wonder what would happen if the election results had to be audited.
