EDIT: To answer some suspicions... My wife and I are spatting and I am currently living with my parents across town. My wife changed the locks, but there is stuff in there that I need, but she is refusing to let me come get them. I am on the mortgage, so feel I have a right to my stuff. I'd rather pay $100 toa locksmith while she is out of the house then to get a court order. Thanks for the replies.

most locks can be picked fairley quickly by a trained locksmith. I have seen a locksmith unlock a standard door lock in less than a minute. some will take longer, maybe as much as a half an hour or more, but yes they can do it. as far as ID, most locksmiths will require ID, if you tell them that it is locked in your house, they may get the police involved, just to protect themselves from any legal issues. it will probably cost betweeen $50-$150, depending on location.

Yes he can and you should definatly make him show you proof that he works for the locksmith and also an ID card of some sort.

he sure can...
and you need proof of identity for obvious reasons...
and also it will cost ya...over 60$ so be aware of that and get some spare keys...make a time capsule with spare keys if you must, it will save you locksmith money in the long run
