Terrorism is a desion made by people who follow a particular ideaology and system of beliefs .They feel that they must take action as an individual or in small groups .
This being the case are we going to continue to attack a group of people that seem to produce more terrorists then others .How can you prevent a religion like Islam from creating new terrorists all the time . I want terrorism to end but holding a gun next to a persons head and telling them to think and act differently is never ,I SAY NEVER GOING TO WORK .
With the knowledge that defeating terrorists can only come from changing the iddeas and beliefs of the followers of Islam who take things litterally in what they read how can we say an end to terrorism can be achieved.Without changing the beliefs and methods of teaching certain segments of Islam what do we hope to achieve .
I understand war is sometimes needed to defend a people from aggression .
It should also be realized that you must have a defined enemy to defeat.

Those people to whom you refer don't WANT to accept the truth. They can't even get their minds around the fact that you don't make war on a verb. The idea of warring on terrorism is about as sensible as making war on individualism or institutionalism. But you see, the 30 -35 percent of Americans who worshipfully kiss George W. Bush's tush are among the most illiterate and immature creatures to every be called "human". They simply are not educable, so you and I will have to work extra hard to convince the other 65 - 70 percent to vote Bush and Co. out of office and into prison where they so deservedly belong.

You make a good point with one exception. It is inaccurate to attribute terrorism only to the followers of Islam. Terrorism has long been the tool of those who do not have the power to wage war. Some have been followers of a religious belief (not just Islam) and some have actually been political states. The Barbary Cost states in the 1800's, Hindu terrorism (Sepoy rebellion), Islamic terrorism (9/11) and Christian terrorism (Ireland) have all been a part of this worlds history. If we only focus on the terrorism practiced by one faction of society we will never overcome this blight.

I sure you are familiar with the expression, time heals all wounds. Strange as it sounds, terrorism is on the rise among Muslims because of education. More and more people in the Muslim world have become literate and are reading the Quran for themselves.
Without the years of study most Islamic clerics devote to studying the Quran, these new readers don't understand the basic tenant of that scripture.
Unlike the Bible, the Quran was not intended to apply for all times. It is the story of Mohamed' s time. Nothing in the Quran can be taken out of context, as it is in the Bible. Passages in the Quran only show people how Mohamed lived his life and served his people during his life. It is not a guide to be applied to today.
Those who read the Quran without years of study, do not understand that it isn't the word of God. It's the story of Mohamed and his relationship with God.
In time, Islamic clerics will bring this point home to all of the Muslim world. If you read the Quran from beginning to end without trying to interpret individual passages, it becomes a story of a righteous man.

Absolutely people are not ignorant!..well to fight terrorism is not some thing easy or you can achieve a grate victory in a short time ,to be honest I think it is nether easy nor belongs to one or another nation because Islamic terrorists they attack mosque. street, kindergarten, bus, restaurant, pane and every where. This is the nature of Islamic terrorists or Osama Ben la den's followers(jihadis).Osam in his statements calling clearly and literally that Muslims must kill (Christians and Jews).as I mentioned he kill also Muslims ! In fact combat against terrorism is not belong to US alone or any other nations it is fight between terrorism and all other nations,it is fight between democracy and terrorism.Think when world trade center has been attacked, there were peoples from all of the world! from different culture, religions, ethnic, colors a.s.o.I believe it takes time and it should not focus just on military front but it must go to idea which produce, drive Hatefulness and Incitement .It can be also to observe, supervise and punish f.ex: madrasa Islamic schools and don't forget there are dictators governments which finance and get benefit from terror

We are more concerned with protecting our nation than protecting the rights of any other country. Our troops are doing a great job and have performed excellent. President Bush is smart enough to comprehend that the punishment for attacking this country directly must be so severe that anyone considering a future attack would be insane to consider it. Our troops have played many roles. One of them is a deterent from future attacks. Islamic groups that planned 9/11, never realized how severe a price they would pay. They miscalculated the resolve of the American people.

You are spot on. The only suggestion I thought may change their opinion about attacks is when identified. The terrorists shall be killed without trial and if he/she was a suicide bomber then their remaining family are to be killed.

I know this seems unfair and a bit severe. However if I thought my brother was going to kill anybody by blowing himself up or otherwise I would either try and stop him or report him, unless I had same beliefs in which case I would die as a martyr when the authorities catch up with me.

You could stand idle while there terrorists do their thing, like what liberals want.

Or you can fight them, and keep them on the run, like what Conservaties want.

Hmmmm. What are you going to do?

So we just sit here and take it? It was people like you who said Hitler couldn't be defeated. Too many of you people say I can't when you should be saying let's try. There are too many cowards watching our country being swallowed up by people that say we can't. Well I'm here to tell you we can. With or without people like you!
