I much prefer art in the home to have stylish finish. Texture, colour and shape are important to me. As far as thought provoking ideas, i think its best left for the gallery. If i had to choose one, it would be style because i look at art in my home a lot more than i get to see art in a gallery.

As a Graphic Designer myself, I'd have to say that thought-provoking ideas and a stylish finish should go hand in hand to create a piece of artwork.
Having said that, Art is subject.

thought provoking ideas. pretty pictures are just pretty pictures: they are nice to look at but then after a few minutes, you've seen everything they have to offer.

Tough one...Id say human beings need both in their creative output. But I would have to go for ideas over style.Its good to feel your visual sense working, but even better to feel your brain working when you discover new ideas!
