Starting from the fact that none of us had any involvement in the decision to be born - in other words, we just came into being - then it would seem that the fundamental meaning, or purpose, of life is merely to ensure the procreation of the species.
A more individualistic viewpoint might be that the meaning of life is to achieve personal tranquility and happiness.
Others might adopt a religious meaning and suggest that it is to prepare us for the next world... but if that is the case, why be born at all? Why not just go straight from the stage of 'non existence' to the existentionalist one in whatever 'afterlife' might exist?
Maybe a realistic explanation would be more along the lines of "To live a good and productive life, not to harm yourself or others, to achieve your potential as a person, and to leave behind memories of a good human being."
Maybe an academic philosopher or a religious cleric will give you a much deeper explanation.
It was a small question but it has a big answer potential. People have been pondering about the meaning of life for thousands of years!

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.
also to sustain one another, love, heel and generally live it to the fully..... if your not happy with something then change it, only you can do that.

Many people think...
- birth
- school
- work
- death
But, just like man made items have a purpose for what they design
with an instruction manual for its use, so is
there a purpose for humans. You just have
to find and understand the instruction man-
ual. Unfortunately there are a lot of different
manuals, but only one is right, so look for
the instruction manual that has the ring of
truth toit (i.e. without hypocrisy) and you will find the meaning of life.

"What is the meaning of life?" is probably the most-asked philosophical question by humanity at large, though we will probably never find the answer, for whatever reason. Common answers include: happiness or flourishing; love; compassion; pleasure; reproduction; power; 42; knowledge, understanding, or wisdom; and being blessed, or achieving union with God or the divine; or simply that there is no meaning to life. ...

The question "what is the meaning of life?" means different things to different people. The vagueness of the query is inherent in the word "meaning", which opens the question to many interpretations, such as: "What is the origin of life?", "What is the nature of life (and of the universe in which we live)?", "What is the significance of life?", "What is valuable in life?", and "What is the purpose of, or in, (one's) life?". These questions have resulted in a wide range of competing answers and arguments, from scientific theories, to philosophical, theological, and spiritual explanations.

The answer is simple my brothers and sisters in humanity. The purpose of are life is to exercise righthousness with this amazing body that has been given to us free of charge! and to show gratidue for all the pleasures in life that are available to us .like fruits that have come from dirt in the ground that are perfectly designed for are body, health, sustanance and even the pleasure just to taste all the various types of flavors of fruits. This is just one example there are countless others the most high has put us in existance to test how we will act,who will believe in him and to see who is worthy of his reward paradise or who derserves hell and who will follow his laws (the Quran) eveything you own has a manuel do you think Allah(God) would leave your best possesion without a manuel? (YOURSELF) NO OF COURSE not. There is a afterlife think about it before you was born you was non-existant WORSE THAN DEATH YOU WAS NOTHING AND NEVER WAS NOTHING then Allah(God) gave you life. So the one that gives life in the first place it is easy for him to give it 2 u again (think about it) infact it is more easier for him than the first time!Allah(God) tells us this in the Quran. Islam is all about peace and doing as much good as you can to gain the mercy of Allah(God) on the day of judgement so you can save yourself from the hellfire and have eternal bliss in paradise (the reward from Allah(God) for all the believers.) The media however like to paint a different picture of islam to these masses and im sure your aware of this.ISLAM STRONGLY FORBBIDS KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE AND SUICIDE find out the facts about islam visit www.islam tomorrow.com a very good website founded by a christian who used to hate islam until he found out the truth check out the live tv link on his site im sure you will enjoy his site. i wish you ALL THE BSET AND HOPE YOU DO FIND OUT THE PURPOSE OF ARE LIFES take care(sorry the website is www. share islam.com go to watch vidoes)

The most important thing about life is...
asking, repeatedly, "what is the meaning of life?" at
Yahoo! Answers.
Why do you want to know. If we give you the wrong answer, will you have to start again or something?

I believe the meaning of life is different for everyone. For some it is save the whales, for some it is feed the poor, for some it is build a milliondollar business, for some it is to have a family, and for some there is no meaning.
You have to find what that meaning is for you. And when you find it.............live it................and do it.
There is no one meaning in life for everyone. If that was the case everyone would be doing the same thing. What a mess that would be!!!!!!!!
