I don't think Sonic Youth are that underrated. I know they're not big label millionaires or anything, but I bet they make their rent and then some and that's not easy to do for an underground artsy band. And they are underground and artsy. I've certainly never been to a Sonic Youth show or event with a sparse crowd. As for your question, I don't feel "fair" has anything to do with it. I know for a fact that I would not like any music from the Jonas Bros or countless other bands that seem so popular here on R&P and I don't want to hear them. I don't need to. I heard it in the 80's with New kids and Nelson Bros then in the 90's it was Hanson etc etc etc. That being said I think it's pretty rude to just talk crap about any band you don't like.
