My best friend and I are from Miami, Fl and are planning a trip to Chicago in February. What is it like, and what are some sites or clubs we should check out? Also, if you can suggest somewhere else to go, and why, I would greatly appreciate it. THANKS!

I'm looking somewhere cold where I can see snow... I'm from Miami, and we don't really see winter here... I've been to New York and don't want to go there....

All's I can say is...dress in layers. (really, I live in the Detroit area, and it's really cold then to US)
I'd go to www.citysearch.com, and cruise through the different sections.
My personal favorite...the Shedd aquarium. Lots of different museums, shops... but citysearch will give you the low down, depending what your interests are.

Chicago has a very changeable climate. February is usually very cold( 0 to -25F frequently) with a mix of sunny days, snow and sometimes sleet. Some winters, it is quite breezy which is why Chicago is known as the Great Lakes city that will make your bones shiver. It can be sunny one minute, then breezy and bleak the next. We have a saying here in Chicago, just as they do in NE: "If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes and it will change." It is pretty accurate. It gets really cold, especially in the early part of February. It frequently snows in February, as well as in December and January. Sometimes it snows a couple feet; sometimes only a dusting. This February there was a lot of snow. This year we also much more snow than recently. Odds are you will get to see at least some snow flurries if you come in a February. A decent prediction would a lot more blustery weather but it is only a good conjecture; we cannot be sure. Make sure to have things to do in case you get stranded ][transpotation doesn't move when it gest blustery} pack long johns, a warm coat, hat and gloves as, snow or not, it will be very cold and usually breezy, if not downright windy and bone chilling This is my American friend told me Hope this can help you Zoe

The 96th floor on the Hancock has an excellent rest/bar. It is the best view in the area at night! Shedd's Aquarium, Science and Industry and many other museums. Take the L out to the suburbs for the best shopping~ Shaumburg and Barrington.Since you are bound and determined to see snow...try Wisconsin Dells, Wi. The Kalamari or Great Wolf resorts are FANTASTIC indoor water parks and BEAUTIFUL snowy scenery in Feb. All the amanities are there and Wi has a lot of things to do. From skiing to renting a snowmobile(for the skiers that likes stability under their butt! LOL) The bunny suits are attractive and the appropriate figure will catch eyes of a hopeful aquaintance!

We may have snow in February, we may not. It's a crapshoot. The biggest snow months here are routinely December and January. The snowfalls starts winding down near the end of February and the beginning of March. Of course, we could get a surprise like we did in 1967 when we got socked with out biggest snowfall in history in March. But it WILL be cold. As far as things to see and do, make sure most of them are inside. Millenium park, Navy Pier, etc. will probably be out. Check out Water Tower place (indoor shopping on Michigan ave), the museums (be aware that the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Museum of Science and Industry are kinda far out by themselves near the lake and there's nothing blocking the wind and snow; waiting for a bus there will be an ordeal). There are a bunch of clubs all over the place. go to wicker park and Wrigleyville; most of the bars/clubs are right next to each other so you can walk down the street, check out a club, walk a bit more, check out a club, etc.). If you can, check out the Mexican Museum of Fine arts, an underrated and underused museum in Pilsen. When you leave, walk through the neighborhood and stop in at one of the little restaurants for a warm bowl of menudo.
