many women are more emotional than men. Men try to be macho and keep their emotions hiden. But they hurt and cry just as much. It is not a weakness to cry. It just proves you are human and alive enough to care about something enough to cry. I think a lot of women cry because their life or something in it is out of control and they feel powerless to stop it. They have lost the power to make changes in their life or surroundings(so they think) and the feel hopeless. Sort of like a abused child. They sometimes learn how to regain some power and make some choices but many do not even know how to reach out and get help. And I am not talking about leaving or divorcing their husbands either.

not all women are emotional. to me, for myself to cry it is a weakness, but that's how i was raised-to see crying as a weakness. but when i see others cry i don't see it always as a weakness. there are guys that are a lot more emotional than some women even. i think the reason that women are usually more emotional than men is because of the hormones, hence the reason women cry more during pregnancy or that time of the month.

Primitive man could not afford to show emotion such as crying

If a woman crys but not all the time it is gut wrentching for guys it pierces our hearts and stops arguments .This power that women have over men with crying tho can be abused . Men can get callused when a woman crys far too often to make matters worse it will effect how he percieves other womens tears in general.

Women you have a superpower called crying use it only for good not evil :)

When woman cry, its fine. But men were raised with the thought that crying is for girls, so they suppress the feeling and it’s actually wrong. Sometimes its weakness, most of the time it's really big emotion that needs to come out.

I think it's because of the social construction of gender, which "allows" a woman to show what may be seen as weakness (emotion) because their role in society does not demand that they be strong. As this changes (and it is changing... slowly), the result will not necessaily be that more men cry, but that crying is no long seen as a sign of weakness (which it ISN'T!)

Its been scientifically proven that women have less ability to control their crying because their tear ducts are designed to fill up quicker. It dosent make them weaker it makes them differnt. In that past crying was essential to survival becuase people needed to know what issue had upset you, to help you and aid your survival. If you kept things to yourself you were less likely to be able to cope and in those harsh times this was everything, as death was just around the corner. Have you ever considered that men who *dont cry* have a weakness to do with expressing themselves? Its all relative, including conceptions of "weakness".

it's more socially accepted for a woman to cry than a man but crying is a strength, not a weakness. if a man doesn't allow himself to cry because he doesn't want others to see him in that state, but another man cries because he is sad and doesn't care what others think about him, no matter what, he's going to express his feelings, who is stronger?

women seems to cry more mainly becos it is our society with double standards. men who expresses their emotions by crying are seem as the weakling or someone who cannot cope with responsibilities. the way i see it is that becos men and women have different ways of expressing their emotions.

another reason could also be becos men who would cry, cry in the hide.. so we wouldnt know that they're crying..

also, maybe becos more women than men have a softer spot to reacting to the environment/situations/experiences..

well.. maybe.. :)

women cry because its part of being a woman.it's not a sign of weakness and someone is foolish to think that. and men should get it into their heads that ITS OKAY TO CRY sometimes.in fact, in guys, crying is a sign of strength, because u arent hiding away ur feelings and thinking its macho to do so. to break away from that mental concept is real strength, guys.

I think women cry for nothing. men only cry at funerals and stuff. maybe its hormone but I find it a turn off.

I would walk away from a girl who cries all the time.
