I'll be in Vegas for a conference in a couple of weeks, and I plan to do some gambling. What are the best places in Las Vegas for playing BlackJack? I'm an intermediate card counter, but I realize that many casinos have huge (multi-deck) shoes and they don't play very far into the shoes. Are there any casinos in Vegas which are more friendly for BlackJack?

There's no such thing as a friendly casino but I know what you mean and it really does depend on how much your playing for! Personally I always like to look around a new place and get a feel for it, speak to the locals but don't appear to be needing information as you may ask the wrong person and end up being conned. Finally steer clear of the "touristy" joints and try to go to the less glitzy "locals" casinos.

While were on the subject of blackjack I would like to recommend a great book to you and NO I never wrote it! It's called "Breaking Vegas" and it's written by Semyon Dukach an ex MIT graduate who was part of a university blackjack team that took the casinos for millions. As well as being a good story he also documents the techniques the blackjack teams used.

Give it a try as it sounds like you might like it!

The more lavish the joint the less advantage the player has. This holds for table games as well as video poker and other slots. Go to the "locals" casinos, the "Station" casinos are pretty good. Downtown is also pretty good. The Horseshoe used to have single deck BJ games, though I haven't been there in a while.

Go downtown. They go deeper there.
