definitely yes, women love guys who work with their wood. especially if it is very "woody" :-) is she staring at you or something? is she watching your large rippling muscles, your finely honed Abs, and fantasizing when you scream when the large pieces of wood fall on your feet? you might want to approach her with this pick up line, "Would you like a closer view of my wood?" or "My woodpile is not the only thing that's stacked around here."

That's a question for your neighbor. It wouldn't excite most people, unless they are particularly fond of wood or you are using some unique species, techniques for smoothing it or interesting tools/devises to hone the wood.

I would guess that your neighbor wouldn't even notice. If your neighbor did notice he'd probably laugh. I mean have YOU ever seen your neighbor working with HIS wood outside?
