Any ideas if a 1997 GMC with a 4.3ltr engine turns over but will not start? I am thinking fuel pump what do you all think?

Don't guess, do some tests. Check for proper fuel pump pressure. If you suspect that the engine is getting no fuel, spray some starting fluid into the intake. If it starts, it's a fuel problem, filter or pump.
If it doesn't start, pull a plug wire and see if you have ignition fire. If not, use a DVOM to check the coils. After that things can get complicated and a qualified tech should have a look at it.
Just changing parts, trying to find a problem, will get expensive fast.
Hope this helps.

If it is the fuel pump, pour a bit of gas in the air intake. Try to start. If it begins to try and start, then the pump is suspect. If there is no reaction, look to the ignition system.
