how can i get myself a name as a poet?

i didn't have much of a choice for findind out this information, i'm hoping someone can help me...

i have been writing for 7 years now and have no idea of any knid of sites to publish them..

i have been writing for seven years now and unfortunatly have no idea of any sites that i can submit my work (only on my bebo page), where i have obtained good results and at that points was writing under a sudo-name.

First, you need to write some poems, write what's in your heart, not in your head. Then look on the internet for poetry sites, try entering competitions and see how you get on. Writing poetry can be easy, if you have the feelings and are in the right frame of mind, it is not something where you can just pick up a pen and say i'm going to write about such and such a thing today or if you think of a title first, then i'm sorry, but it will not work. You have to write the poem FIRST, then think of the title.

I entered a poetry competition I found on the net as a laugh, a sexist , racist poem which rhymed under a pseudonym so i am amazed you cannot find an outlet.
There is of course litle need for poetry now since we discovered music and most good poetry is found in song lyrics.
Poetry which does not rhyme and has no rythm is the province of Poets who give each other praise or condemnation for no apparent reasons because the entire genre is *****

If you're serious about poetry+ your writing is clean, i.e. you could try having it displayed in your local library or school. You could try getting some of your work published. There is some publication agents who accept peoples work from home. Or see if you can have some work published in a local newspaper or residents magazine.

Every peom that you write, you have to put your name at the bottom??? When and if you get recognized for them, they will always have your name at the bottom. duh...Try something catchy like "the thought provoker" or something like that.....
