i told myself that i shouldn't as i want to be more than friends but the feeling is not mutaul. we parted as 'friends' so to get past this i have been telling myself to contact this person, but i feel as though i can't help it.
what do you think?.

you have to be strong and decide whether you want to be friends as nothing more will come of it, if you are strong enough then msn 'hello'. if not then move on and get on with your life.

Don't do it! You'll end up chained to MSN waiting for an answer, then trying to read lots of things into the person's answers - it'll be pure torture and you could end up feeling rejected again and humiliated to boot.
If you've not been in touch for a while then stay strong and try to move on to pastures new.
It's tough, I know, but better than the alternative.

Thats a tough one! If you say hello and they don't respond you'd probably be quite upset. however it will give you some kind of closure and allow you to move on. Is it really a good idea to be friends with someone who you feel more for but they do not reciprocate? Isn't this just some form of torture?

No, its best to leave the past behind, its very doubtful since you lats saw him that his feelings have suddenly changed to something more deeper. If they had he would be the one contacting you.
But if you really feel you want to give it a go than do it, so you wouldn't have any regrets in the future.

Do it and do it now before its too late. You need closure or something different but contact this person before they write totally out of their lives.
