Sometimes US policy is invited by a country that does not reflect what the people of that country want. Then you get unrest in the masses and the few who are radical swing the masses into an anti USA campaign. Sometimes the Policy helps the country who are being bullied by a neighboring country that is trying to overrun it, such as IRAN VS IRAQ in which they been at war and aggressive towards each other. With SADAM gone they (Religious Party) of IRAN tried to over run the Iraqi Government using religion, Al-Qaeda is forcing people to convert just as the Christians did during the crusades and Spanish Inquisition. Failures of USA Policy Backing Vietnam Government in stead of Ho Chi Ming. Backing Iran Government dictatorship.(Mohammad Reza Pahlavi) Backing Panama's government ( Daniel Ortega) Many failures and wins has happened not from the USA but from other countries doing the same thing. Big political wars both conventional and economics.

The answer to your question is big YES.

But the US will not and should not abandon its ally leaving it without backing.

Now what to do to counter terrorism which is increasing due to this BLIND support ?

I must say that since the policy makers are aware of this situation, they also must be having several options to work upon.

However the US will implement such policies to protect its interest only no matter how unproductive/ counterproductive they may be.

Yup, but not in the way you think.
Muslim extremists HATE Jews. Israel is a Jewish state. Therefore, they hate Israel, and anyone who supports Israel.

Depends on your perspective. As longs as we resist, or support any country which resists, the complete conversion to the facist faction of Islam that feeds these murders, we will be targets.

Probably so, but would you suggest we abandon Israel and let the other Middle Eastern countries destroy them, so that we might be a little safer? If so I am really glad your not my neighbor.

Personally I think that the terrorist bombed because of Bush. You see how many people here dislike him, can you imagine the other people around the world? I bet they hate the Bushes more than us, nobody attacked when the Clinton was in office........

Yes. However, that doesn't mean, "lets abandon our friends so that people that kill civilians, lop off heads and treat women like cheap property will be nice to us."
