Are you compelled to smoke MORE when you see that you are almost out of cigarettes? I do, and I wonder why that is.......you'd think I would slow down, knowing that I was going to have to go to all the effort of getting up and getting dressed and going out to the store to buy more......doh!

As a former smoker, I recognize the syndrome you're talking about! I have no idea why. But I also smoked more when I HAD more, too, so a whole carton bought at one time actually went faster than buying 3 packs at a time on special at the local convenience store. That worked best for me, one smoking, two in reserve at all times.

no, if I had only 3 left I would ration them out. I gave up almost 8 months ago now though, so I don't feel compelled to smoke any.

I completely agree. I think its bc your like "Oh, crap, I'm almost out... but what if I need a cigarette now, or ten minutes from now, and all I have is one... do I smoke it now or in ten minutes???" and then since your thinking about it constantly, you need to smoke more. Lol, I hate it when that happens. (Now I need a cigarette.)

I use to be a smoker. When I saw that I was starting to get low, I'd go on and buy another pack that way I was never out.

Yes I think it's because we know we are about to run out. We have it on our minds and it causes us to smoke more thinking of it. Yeah I do that too...

I have had that same problem too. I can't figure out why that is.It must be the nicotine kicking in making you do thing you have no control over.
