A Super MultiDrive is a model name of a drive.
Here's an example: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1633515,00.asp
Basically a "Super Multidrive" is one that can read/write/rewrite CD's, DVD+r, DVD-r, DVD+- r, DVD+-RW, and use Dual layer DVD's, etc.
When the next gen of Disc's come out (eg blueray & HD) then a "Super Multidrive" would be classed as being to read/write/rewrite to them to.
Hope this helps
