it is what comes out of your breast right after giving birth. I believe it comes out for about 3-5 days. Then your breast milk comes in. It is suppose to be very nutritious! I had a girlfriend that had a baby born with spina bifida( not sure if i spelled that right) and after her daughter was born, the nurses told her that if her baby could just get the most of the colostrum she could, it would help her enormously! Hope that answers your question!

Instead of producing true milk right after birth, the body produces colostrum. It is thinner, more watery, and much clearer than true milk. Your body will produce it for the first day or 2 after you give birth and then your body will begin producing true milk. It is packed full of antibodies and other good ingredients.

It is the richest breast milk that is coming from your breasts after birth. It boosts your baby's immune system. This is the most important milk your baby will recieve. Your colostrum has certain antibody's that protect your baby from alot of nasty things.

it's the stuff that gives the breast milk all the nutrients good for the baby - it comes before the actual milk, though. the milk comes 3-5 days after delivery usually.

It's your first milk. It's thick and yellow and sticky. Some people call it "liquid gold." It's very nutrient dense and comes in small quantities. It contains lots of antibodies and functions as "baby's first immunization."
