"I say, I say, that boy is about as dumb as box of rocks!"
My hubby and I still quote the wise Mr. Leghorn :))

Nice question! Brings back good memories!
Bugs Bunny is tops for me and my husband. Personally I liked Pete Puma ("How many lumps??.... Oh tree or four eeeeh!") and Claude the cat (nervous cat the mice spooked and he clung to the ceiling) The big bull dog and the black & white kitten (when he thought his master baked the kitten in the cookie dough. LOL!)
Sylvester's son always cracked me up with his embarassment (bag over his head) and of course Daffy and Taz....
Man I could go on... the polite gophers or ground hogs, Mac and Tosh I believe ("no, no, you go ahead" "no, I insist you first". There are so many more which I'll probably remember later. Remember too how the cartoons addressed issues of commercialism/ materialism and environmentalism along with the war time comments? Pretty amazing I think.
I think so many new cartoons are created so quickly now that the time and effort to make them long lasting in our minds has fallen to the way side. (I do like a few of them)
Back then maybe all that effort to make the films they had to have a good script first. Listening to the dialoques now are hilarious on a different level for me and I loved the action when I was little.
Keep in mind to that Mel Blanks did most if not ALL the voices of the characters!

I love the old Warner Bros. cartoons. Bugs Bunny and Sylvester and Tweety are two of my favorites. I like the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote...talk about an exercise in frustration!

Nobody remembers The Bugaloos. It wasn't a cartoon, but I watched it when I was little. How about the old ones where the cans of food and stuff in the store comes alive and dances?

bugsbunny, popeye, mickey mouse & goofy cartoons i love watching them because there not animated by computer and most times you can really see the personality of the animator within the drawings and there animating style within each individual character.
with modern day cartoons the characters dont have a "soul", if you dont understand my meaning on this spend a day watching old black & white cartoons and you'll understand.
