I am glad that there is an ACLU. However, I don't agree with many of the stances they've taken.
For example:
They stepped in and prevented a valedictorian from being able to talk about God in her speech.
They defend NAMBLA. That is sick and wrong.
They sued a school district for telling their students to keep an open mind regarding evolution.
While I love that they defend minorities, I think that they go WAY overboard sometimes.

I consider myself to be a Moderate Republican and I think that it's always a good thing to have opposing points of view but some of the philosophy spewing from the ACLU is just mind-boggling. This whole idea of completely banning anything religious from our public lives is ridiculous. Please keep in mind that I am not a Christian although I do respect Christianity as a belief. Why do symbols like a granite carving of the 10 Commandments in an Alabama Courthouse present a threat to anyone's civil liberties? Why do we have to give up traditions that have been a part of our lives for centuries like Christmas scenes in town squares? Why is the phrase "Under God" not acceptable in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag? Because someone may be offended? Here's a news flash: SOMEONE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE OFFENDED!
Furthermore, why does the ACLU cherry pick what parts of the Constitution they will defend and what they won't? They will defend the First Amendment to the point where they line up with the KKK and the Nazi's but they will not defend the Right to Bear Arms in the Second Amendment. That simple fact proves that they are a disingenuous organization and they don't even subscribe to their own proclaimed ideals.

I am an Independent voter that split my ticket between the three parties in the last election. I love opposing view points and the discussion of issues is a very necessary proponent to any society that wants to grow. Debate is healthy.
The ACLU is nothing more than a organization dedicated to supplanting our society with a secular system totally devoid of Christianity, and legally applied morals. They will defend people from NAMBLA's rights to engage children in sex, but sue an entire town if they have a cross or fish displayed. They use their money to force communities to remove objects they find offensive when they cannot afford the legal fees to defend themselves. Have you ever heard of the ACLU defending a Christian's right to freedom of religion? They had no problem with Muslim students being allowed to pray 5 times a day in public schools but sued schools for prayers in a graduation speech by the student. That is not honest debate or discussion

I evaluate myself a conservative & frequently a Republican, however the long term subject is that a lot of those different worldwide places are not working under a loose organisation gadget. The significant gov can shrink organisation or it may enable it bypass on by way of itself or it may prop it up with $$$ help. seem at KIA in South Korea... the organisation became on the sting of financial disaster interior the mid-'ninety's, however the gov desperate to no longer enable it bypass under. The South Korean gov stored it afloat with direct $$ injections & it limited different vehicle companies from doing organisation interior the country. Ford tried to purchase the organisation, however the gov reported no. The gov stored it afloat & then GAVE KIA to Hyundai to run. And in China, seem at substantial bicycle - Schwinn had substantial construction their motorcycles for awhile, until substantial took each and every of the Schwinn designs & all started construction their own form to compete with Schwinn. The chinese language government did no longer something approximately each and every of the stolen designs & sufferers. China is the main important source of knock-off products & copyright stealing interior the international, & the government would not do a undertaking approximately it. as long because of the fact the thieves pay-off the government, the gov would not care. confident, the yank gov is a pile of completely ignorant self-serving lackeys afraid of their own shadow...

I think you are confused about what it means to be a conservative Republican.
As long as there are two parties, there will be checks and balances.
Legislating from the bench, by liberal activist judges is totally anti-American. Without these judges, there would be no ACLU...

The ACLU and the 9th circuit court of appeals should all be taken out of commission. I just had to come here to see what UCLU was.
