the united states champion at the moment is chris beniot! bobby lashly was champion , then finlay beat him using his signiture weapon the shilleleigh. then the title changed hands again this time in a tripple threat match , between bobby lashly finlay and mr kennedy , at the end of that match bobby hit his pattented powerslam on finlay and proceded to cover finlay to try pick up the win , just as the referees hand was comming down to count the 3 , ken kennedy snuck in and rolled up bobby lashley and got the win , although he did pull lashleys tights ( which is illegal in terms that you can't kick out if your apponent is pulling your tights for leverage!) so , by this time kennedy is champ , kennedy shows his desire to move to RAW , but theadore long said that he cannot until he beats the undertaker! so its undertaker vs ken kennedy at no mercy! undertaker gets disqualified causing kennedy to be victouris . then , on friday night smackdown , mr kennedy says to teddy long , " now i've beaten the undertaker so can i move to RAW . but teddy long throws one more obstical in his path saying he has got to beat the returning chris beniot on his return match to smakdown. so , the match gets under way and it is very evenly matched but then as kennedy gets the upper hand out comes the undertaker ( playing mind games) distracting kennedy allowing chris to hit several german suplexes and then lock in his signiture manove the crippler crossface! chris beniot is currently the united states champ!

at cyber sunday the pay-per-view in which the fans vote for the matches that take place and the stipulations of those matches , chris beniot is one of the 3 superstars that fans can vote for to face the undefeated umaga at cyber sunday!

Chris Benoit, he beat Mr. Kennedy for it. It's great for him because he has earned it, but in reality he should be competing for the World Title not the U.S. Title. Vince is once again not giving Benoit the credit he deserves.
