I know how you feel. I am white and i live in Korea. I wanted an international marriage. I met my wife a Korean woman but her parents hated me because i was white. She could marry chinese or japanese but not me. It was a big fight so we just went on our own and got married. My family on the other hand does not care about what race i marry into as long as we love each other. I too know what racism is and it is a very bad thing. I have lived in this country and have seen both sides of the spectrum. Some treat me very well and others have treated me badly as well. I as being the outsider to the race i have married into still have problems with her family. Now that we are married they are starting to come around a bit but i don't think they ever will totally I will always be the one that screwed up thier happy little family. But either way my heart goes out to you and i understand what you are going through and it is not easy. There is nothing i can tell you that will make the situation better or make you feel better other than please remember you are not alone. And these types of situations never really have a defined answer or outcome. It is difficult and it is hard, i wish you all the best and I sincerely hope that your next relationship will go better.

It seems he has already given up really, I think it isn't you who would struggle but rather him. He and his family have certain expectations of a wife and a Korean girl raised there will likely seem 'easier' to take on than an American girl. This is not your problem, it's theirs. You however do have to think very hard and fully realise what you are getting into if you do persevere. Chances are it will not be like the movies and they will all be smilingly brought round to your way of thinking and living (which will ultimately always shine through, you are a modern woman and that is what you will feel best as). You will have to fit a very strict pattern and with a husband and in-laws who see that as 'only natural' you haven't got an easy time ahead. Follow your heart by all means but don't follow it simply because it is your heart, think well and allow for his arguments: how different are you willing to go? Also think of children and so on. Please keep in mind just how much effort you will need.

For some reason men find asian women "Mysterious". White OR Black men commonly marry White or Black women, but to have sex with or marry an Asian woman is a challenge. Men feel they will be envied by other men if they have an Asian woman.

I can answer your question by saying this:
The more someone tries to
segregate themselves from
"other races", the more of a
hypocrite a person becomes.

What difference does race make. You go with those you are attracted to. My gf is Ugandan, and I am English, and everything is fine.
