It's possible that your foot is broken, but it could also be a plantar fascitis. Either way, the only way to find out is to see a doctor.

Spooky question !!!??? As happens - turned over on my ankle about 8 days ago - right leg swelled up - and bruising appeared a while later. Bruising and swelling reduced - a bit - but pain actually increased - so I decided about an hour ago I would visit local A & E later today to have it checked. Apart from that - have broken ribs a few times - hitting the ground at maximum force. Why is this Q under 'Entertainment & Music' ??? - none of the foregoing was amusing. Leastways - notalot.

Hi well first how did you do it ? It could be a few things, sprain, fracture, torn ligaments, torn muscles. You need to go see your gp he will give you a examination ,give you medication and refer you if he feels you need to see some one,or send you for a x-ray,or pop to your nearest A/E dept and the drs will see you there and give you the right treatment. In the mean time, rest your ankle when you can, apply a ice compress or frozen peas, check for circulation make sure your foot isnt cold and the toes are not blue, then elevate when you can higher then your heart.Keep your weight off the foot, borrow some crutches or if you go to A/E they should issue you with some.Take regular pain relief when needed.I would advise you thou to see your gp incase its a fracture or some thing more serious.Good Luck.Email me if you want further advice.

If you had broken your foot you wouldn't be able to walk at all! I broke mine in August in 2 places and spent the next 6 weeks in a wheelchair. Only now back on my feet properly and still have to walk with a stick on long outings.
You may have sprained it or damaged a tendon. Get it x-rayed to check it out.

My husband twisted his ancle playing basketball and his foot sweeled up, turned blck/blue/brown/purple all over, and it hurt him so bad a could barely walk. He went to the Doc because we thought is was broken and they said it was a sever sprang, and they recommended we keep it wraped for a couple week, and when he was setting to keep it elevated. They also said to take a brown paper bag, soak it in vinager, and put his foot in it at night. (that took most of the swelling away in about 3 days.)
My recomendation to you would be to go have it x-rayed because if there is something wrong with it, and you let it heal wrong, you will eventually have to have corrective sergery to walk.
Good Luck!

I also started to have pains in my foot when I placed weight on it.Especially in the heel part.I have since found out about what is called "Plantar Fasciitis".An insert for the shoe ,called an "Orthotic" can be obtained from shops or made to measure that fits your shoe and foot. It is said to be almost 100% curable.Although my problem has been eased it has not totally been cured. It seems our shoes can be the cause of this problem.

If you can still walk on it, it's probably not broken, but severely strained. Go to a doctor, he'll probably advise painkillers and rest for your foot.

It's possible there are a lot of bones in your feet breaking one doesn't mean you couldn't walk , check for swelling if there is a break your body will try to protect it , no swelling no break .
