Time to throw out that old Black and white SDTV you had because HDTV Looks to be the future of the entertainment bussiness are you ready?

Don't get too anxious. First, broadcasters have to transmit more HD. Since so few are doing it right now, I think we have plenty of time to contemplate the situation. That so-called deadline for the end of SD is most definitely going to be extended into the future indefinitely unless a radical increase in HD broadcasts magically occurs. I'm not holding my breath.

Cookie Cutter made slight error. SD stands for standard definition. Has nothing to do with digital.

1080p IS available. On plasma sets though. Also, SDTV is a new standard not an old one. It means Standard Digital Television, which is a pure digital signal, not analog, but not HDTV either. And YES I'm more than ready. I'm already there! lol ;-)

Didn't congress pass a law stating that all television shows have to be in HD by a certain date?

Still waiting for 1080p to be available.
(presently 1080 interlaced)
