You can get your iPod to work with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Visit http://www.apple.com and get your iTunes software.
But this won't work for the older Windows ME or Windows 98 through iTunes. You would have to look for drivers, then use your iPod like an MP3 player.
Unlike the PC, Apple never develops software for it's older models. They simply assume that people would throw away their older computer to get the new software. THAT is a terrible waste of valuable resources. The least they could have done is to develop a "tiny iTunes" product for Windows 98/Windows ME.

You can download a programme from the internet call Podutility (i think thats what its called) Which will down load all your tracks from your ipod to your hard drive! Then install Itunes on your computer, then update itunes with you music you downloaded from your ipod. I think the software is free to try. Hope this helps.
