My first year at my job we had an office Secret Santa, which I'd heard was an opportunity for everyone to buy inappropriate joke presents for each other. So I bought a Sex Timer for the person I got, thinking it was in the spirit of things. But NO ONE else bought dodgy gifts, it was all smellies and chocolates and desk toys apart from that sex timer. Cringe.

A boyfriend of mine presented me with a bunch of flowers as I was boarding a train heading for Scotland, where I planned to spend a holiday touring and staying in youth hostels. I stared at them in dismay and wondered what on earth to do with them. "Give them to the poor!" he said airily. I can't remember just what I did with that beautiful and totally impractical gift!

When I was just a little girl, I found a comb somewhere and wrapped it up and gave it to my older brother for Christmas! (I didn't have any money to buy him anything).
My mom gave me one of those planner/organizer things. Upon further inspection, the calender inside was from like 2 years ago!

One year, ALL my friends gave me gifts from the TV show "X-Files". They honestly thought I liked X-Files, but really, I was probably the only person on earth that didn't watch that show! They were the ones franatical about it, and all I ever did was listen quietly to what they say.

I gave my grandmother lavender scented bath products for mother's day one year...completely forgetting she had no sense of smell. Yeah, I felt like a dork...considering I spent most of my time with her.
