Marriott or Intercontinental, if you're not on a budget.

In september we stayed in the Hotel Royal which is really near to Wawel castle and only five mins walk to the main square. They have two standards of room - 1 star which I think cost about 240zl per night, pretty basic and our room was full of mosquitos.... and 2 star rooms which are much nicer and I think cost about 300zl per night. It's a really nice art nouveau style hotel.

Depends what you want to achieve.........if you want to stay in the old town, right in the heart of things - why not consider staying in an apartment? try 'old town apartments' (Warsaw apartments website?) Stayed in one just off the main square....much more convenient than a hotel and ours did include breakfast. Most of the 'big' hotel are outside the old town....seriously - give an apartment some thought. You don't want to be trekking miles at night - you want to be in the centre!??
