The smell was not strong but I did get to be around it. One of my pregnant friend claimed that she painted herself while pregnant and another said that it is not good and that it will harm the baby. Does anyone really know the truth?

Just make sure you air out the room completely before putting the baby in there.

It is safe to paint the room as long as you use water based paints, open a window or 2, and take breaks as often as needed. Do not continue to paint if you are not feeling well but you will be fine to continue to do so once you feel better again after sitting down. I used a mask when I sanded and my doctor said it was completely fine that I was painting. If you can find it and afford it, organic paint would probably be best. We used Kidguard though because there will probably be some crayon marks when the baby gets older! Good luck and congrats

The reason you can smell the paint when it is wet, but not when it is dry, is because the ingredients that make paint liquid (usually water, oil, or solvent based depending on the type of paint) become dispersed in air as they evaporate from the painted surface.
There are steps you can take to speed up the drying process. First, if you can wait until fall or winter, it is best to apply paint when the humidity is low. When the humidity is high, air has a harder time picking up excess moisture from paint, thus slowing the drying process............Paint oddur

Well that depends on what kind of paint you used and whether it was lead based or not dear. Lead based paint is a culprit and should not be used around pregnant women and children . Refer to the can as to what the paint contains. If it is latex paint, I think you are ok.

The only way that it may hurt you is if it is lead-based which is not on the market any more because of the lead. The odor may effect you but that is different from person to person. My mother painted when she was pregnant with both of us and nothing happened. Just make sure that the area is well ventilated.

Paint smell is harmful. The smell of cheap paints are much more harmful. Simply avoid it.

You can paint and be around paint only if the paint doesnt contain lead. Thats what is bad about painting. Next time, be sure the paint has no lead and there is plenty of fresh air curculating around.

The paint smell is not toxic I suppose & if it is faint its ok & as long as u did not inhale it directly from the can, dont worry , keep your mind at peace & always have happy thoughts. All the best.
