Both are equally important. Appearnace is what makes a lasting first impression, and personality keeps it going.

I think that looks and personality are both important.Looks need not be like Jake Gyllenhaal goodlooking , but reasonably good looks are important.Relatively speaking, I think that personality is very important too.If you've got a goodlooking guy/girl with a personality of no substance, you've landed yourself a temporary deal. 'Cuz looks wither away, the personality stays with you beyond the grave or for that matter, even if the relationsip doesn't work out. Appearance too is important to a certain extent cuz if you've got Albert Einstein on your arm with the looks of your neighbour's pet bulldog, let's admit there are gonna be strains on the relationship. You don't want to be staying in such a relationship out of pity , 'coz relationships are based on so much more, and moreover, it's an insult to the person 'coz he can see past your superficial attempts at pretending to be happy with him.

Appearance is important for the initial attraction, and it is important to try your best to stay attractive for your partner in my opinion. But personality is something that develops and becomes better with age whereas looks fade over time. So unless you have that good personality to fall back on, you're just going to be an old partner with no personality at some point. So really, personality IS more important, since it is essential for long-term happiness in any relationship.

What a noble gesture, however you and I both know that you wouldn't give a nickel's worth of attention to captain scraggly regardless of how charming he may be. I think that personality is more ingrained. That it's harder to change personality than it is to change appearance so that it is important to be aware of the personality of someone as early as possible. There a great number of people who demonstrate one personality in public and quite another in private, so they are worth being wary of. Look for appearance characteristics that are adaptable, and an attitude that allows change and you can find the perfect (Choose one: friend, lover, employee, confidant, limo driver, etc).

Personality is most important. You have to get along for things to work. B U T !!! Looks are important too. If your not attracted to the person then it won't work either. You can only go soooo far if 1 of these elements is lacking.

Appearance does not necessarily mean stunning good looks. Even an ordinary person can make a good outward impression by taking the time to clean himself up. We've all seen pics of celebs without makeup, and it's incredible how different they look. Taking the time to put yourself together can compensate for lack of "classical" good looks.

Appearance gets you in the door, but personality keeps you in the house. I've dated women who were gorgeous and then their personalities made them look ugly after a while. Then I've been friends with women who, over time, became very attractive to me based off of their beautiful personalities.
