I think it is.

I'm not a Christian. I don't have any religion, though I do have my own thoughts on what happens to us after we die. So I'm not going to pretend that I know about Christianity.

But any person or religion that preaches equality for all should stand up for that. It may have been okay to discriminate against certain groups in society back then, but it isn't now, and religion should take a step forward and get up to speed. Stop living in the past.

I am a strong advocate for basic human rights and rights for those that are opressed in society for who they are and what they believe in. Whether it's gay marriage, the right to abortion, or violence against women. It saddens me to think that women have to be included in this, as they are essentially the backbone of society. Without them, males would either have to find a way to become asexual, or life as we know it would literally die.

Personally I would love to see females take a dominant role in society, and belt all this religious bullsh*t out of the way, because without it, I think the world would be a better place, and we wouldn't have as many groups in society trying to control each other.

I think the world would be a lot more peaceful with women in charge of everything, and I'd be much more proud to see the men taking orders from a woman isntead of another way around.

That's the kind of thing religion needs to preach. Change, acceptance, and understanding.

Not who is better than who.

The Bible claims to be "God-breathed," so that's why its readers call it "God's Word." God's Holy Spirit led prophets and others to write out the words, but the Bible as a whole and in every word is God's, so it's not just the writings of men.

The Bible accomplishes so many things that have nothing to do with gender and is read and willingly followed by so many women, that I can't imagine one could oversimplify things enough to rightfully say it was just written to control women.

As for being "sexist," it does mention a few gender distinctives, so it's not androgynous (if that's the alternative).

Yes it was written by men and only men mattered thus the recording of civilization by only the mens names. The entire book is a control measure, for men and women, however puts the strictest measures on women who were considered possessions until just the last couple hundreds of years. This is not to say it isnt a good guide for living well.

ALL religions are sexist and most of them are trying to control people, men and women alike.
The entire world is sexist.
I don't think the bible was specifically written to control women, but it is used even today to control the minds of millions of people.

It has many sexist qualities, and from it women are expected to act subordinate. We get a lot of our sexual hang ups from the bible. It's all a mess...interpretation is a big part. It's an ever-changing book. Ok so, from my interpretation, YES, I think it does.

I would think not. The Bible was wrote so long ago you must interpret the book in the best way. Times were different then but the story still remains.

Yes

Paul was the worst of all. A group of simple, narrow-minded, chauvinistic cavemen wrote the bible and so many modern humans buy it.

It's quite hilarious actually.

You'd think that after all of the scientific progress and the forward intellectual movement of our species, they would give the rambling thoughts of those old flea-ridden toerags a rest.

it is not at all benevolent with women, but that doesn't mean it was written to control us... It's just the time it was written in... that's the way they regarded women back then.
