Last week, my sister brought a laptop and router at Best Buy and put it on her debit card. However, she just found out that she needs the money for an emergency; but she doesn't want to return the items. She figures that she can go over there, show them her recept and re-buy the items using a Best Buy credit card (yes, they have these!). In other words, transferring the money from one card to another. Can she do that? Will they allow her to do this?

I've done this at Walmart...used cash and then got a gift card from a family member.

They were more than happy to refund my cash and let me re-buy the items with my gift card.

She's right...I didn't even need the items, just a receipt should do.

If she is concerned, tell her to call ahead and talk to a manager and explain the situation. Make sure she writes down the name of the manager and use that conversation when she arrives at Best Buy.

It should not be a problem!

They might...then again they might insist that she actually return the items as well. Or they may say no way to the whole thing. All she can do is call and ask. Tell her to get the name of the person she talks to and can get to the store while that person is still there....long story just trust me on that one...Good luck.
