from last 5 months i have been trying to conceive..i take follic acid tabs..and also some mild antibiotics as i have and uti...my period was due on the 17th...i took a hcg test yesterday (23rd)..that came out negative...what cud be wrong? it kind of frustrate me to see the result is negative..this happened on a previous occassion too..
i was never on pills or contracepts and both me and my husband have gone under through check ups and the results are normal and healthy...pls help
tell me can uti delay my periods...and is and hcg test accurate..

it is unlikely that a uti or the antibiotics used to treat it would delay your period, but it is highly likely that stress and putting yourself under too much pressure has delayed them.
hcg tests are usually accurate, although occassionaly they do give a false negative if used too early (check the packaging).
if i was you i would chill out a week isnt too long to wait for your doctor. if ur really anxious though why dont you visit a drop in family planning centre or see your practice nurse while he is away?

If your period does not start in a week, retake the pregnancy test. I , and a friend of mine, have both experienced negative preg tests when we were pregnant.
