Formatting My PC?
I have just been told that I need to format my PC so that I can play on the new game I have recently bought. How do I go about formatting my PC?

Also, do I need to do anything else (e.g create a copy)?

Stop right there Matt! If you format your hard drive, you'll have no operating system on your computer ... unless, of course, you have a Windows CD to reinstall it. You won't be able to play any game without an operating system.

If you do have a Windows CD, you simply place the CD into your CD/DVD-ROM drive and reboot. (You may have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS. Look for a message to pop up on your screen that says something like "Press del/F1/F2/F10 to enter BIOS (or CMOS) setup".)

When your computer goes to the page where it checks your system for an operating system it will give you the option to install Windows. (You'll need the CD-Key, which may be somewhere about your computer case, or on the CD case if you bought it separately.)

Once you've installed Windows, you'll then have to install your game.

Two options really.
Option 1: the game you have bought is on a DVD disc and your PC only has a CD drive - this option could say "the disc in the drive is not formatted, do you want to format it now"

Option 2: you have very naughty friends.

I'm going with option 1 on this.

No game will tell you to format your hard drive just so you can play their game. But if you are sure of this, go to my computer, right click on the C drive icon and you will see the option format.... follow the instructions from there. Good luck.

are you sure you have to format your pc to play a game.. Unusual
1) back up your C: drive usinf an external harddrive or on to Cds/DVDs
2) right click on C:
3) select the option to format

or

insert your back up cd: (which usually come with your computer)

Restart computer and follow the steps, this is cleaner than doing it from the windows environment.

Luck

NO! YOU ARE BEING LIED TO! I HAVE NEVER EVER HEARD OF ANYTHING THAT REQUIRED A HARD DRIVE REFORMAT IN ORDER TO PLAY A GAME.

What game is it, and what's the specs of your PC?
