When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them.
I bought a complete, new system from them with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.
I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.
Good luck!

I have a Dell. I love it. My boyfriend has a Mac. It's superfast. The only problem is we have to make sure that anything we buy for it, like software, printers, etc., has to be Mac compatible. Some things take a little more effort to find. If not, you may as well forget about it. As far as printers go, HP makes good ones. Some now are small, lightweight, but prints quickly and with good quality.

Hewlett Packard, period. Well, at least as far as printers. Laptops are a different story, but HP makes pretty decent laptops, also. I'd personally buy either a Toshiba or a Dell laptop.

Canon printers and Toshiba laptops. A close second is HP printers (for quality, but ink is soooo expensive to replace) and Dell for laptops (but not desktops).
Go somewhere they don't work off commission, like Best Buy, they're going to be the ones to give their "honest" opinion....

Dell laptops I think are the best values on the market, and HP makes the best printers and all in one machines.

I'm adding my vote for HP printers. The laptop, I love my Gateway with wide screen and their tech support is excellent. But get the extended warranty as laptops are expensive to fix , LCD screen and battery too high, might as well get a new laptop. CD/DVD drives are cheap junk on any computer in my experience.

Laserjet printers - HP
Deskjet printers - Canon (for the less expensive ink as somebody suggested and I vote for that)
Laptops - HP/ Compaq or Toshiba
