The most appropriate answer is that a living organism can not travel on a beam of light because when you reach the speed of light you become energy and you are no longer "matter".
you will have big trouble turning that light energy back into human form.

the acceleration needed to make you reach such high speed will kill you because the G force will crush you.

If by travelling on the beam of light you mean effective teleportation, then it might be possible, experiments are being done even today on this subject.

On the other hand, the bigger the object, the more complex its wave function is. This basically means that only working experiments can be made with sub-atomic particles, which is obviously not really as interesting as in the science fiction books.

On the other hand, there are some thought experiments on how the system would work for more complex systems...

The only real object in any way related to your question is a solar sail. It uses light pressure from the sun or some other light source for tiny but continuous thrust.
