Me and my bro were messin around bored in the house and we came across a load of toys in our parents wardrobe. The penny never dropped, even though it was some of the stuff that id asked santa for crimbo. And on xmas morning i still didnt kop it. Didnt wanna kop it i think. But then my bro turned around and told me not to be a fool, that santa didnt exist and the proof was right in front of me! Heartbreaking stuff really. I was 8 or 9. Christmas has been kinda crap ever since. Instead of magic, now its just Socks & shower gel.....

Well I'll be blown, I'm almost 50 and you have shattered my heart into tiny pieces saying Santa isn't real, I don't know how I'm going to live with that information, devastated I am, just devastated.
Joking apart I found off my older sister when I was 6, we were out blackberry picking and I was so excited about this doll I'd seen that morning and saying if I pick lots more berries will Santa see me and fetch me that doll, she laughed at me and said there was no such thing as Santa, I screamed at her and called her a liar and we had a fight, we were covered in berry juice by the time we got home and got sent to bed in disgrace, it was a harsh way to find out especially as she told my little brothers Santa didn't exist later that day, oh she was a wicked child and so mean telling us.

I thought the big red fat man was scarey!!
however
Unfortunatly i had a little bit of a brain and found out that santa clause is actually real, just not the way we think he is, he doesnt fly sleigh's and he doesnt have reindeers and he is not immortal, unfortunatly he is dead now, but the real santa clause was called St Nichalaus he was a toy maker from germany and near the end of every year he would give toys he had made to the orphanage hent the ST, and the story of santa clause. in fact in germany there custom is still to say St Nich, not santa.

Sorry. You were lied too. There is a Santa Claus. People just don't understand. He is not a real person like us, but he is real just the same. We just don't always call Him Santa when we get older which is really sad. No matter how old I get there will always be a Santa Claus. And He brings presents not just on Christmas.

you do no longer could inform them something -- their friends will !!! approximately 8-10 maximum young toddlers have found out - by way of fact their classmates have revealed to them that there isn't any Santa - So- how do you clarify that? i've got continually informed my toddlers that on an identical time as there isn't any longer an quite Santa Claus - that Santa represents the "Spirit of Christmas" - that of loving, giving, desirous to delight and do some thing particular for individuals which you adore. And that as long as they "Believed" in the goodness of Santa -- they might proceed to acquire presents from him. they're 40!! And in case you ask them is they have self belief in Santa - they are going to say - "heck yeah" - he brings me some thing in step with annum!!! do no longer confuse the character with the image and thought!!

I was lying in bed excitedly unable to sleep one Christmas eve ( I was about or 8) and I heard my parents come upstairs and go up into the loft. I heard the familiar crinkle noise of wrapping paper on presents as my mum and dad went up and down the stairs. I then heard my mum yelling at my dad ( it was a whispered yell if you know what I mean) as he dropped what was obviously a load of presents. I really wish Santa was real even now and I'm 22!

well i was 8. the way in which i found out was i had been given a set of things times tables wallchart things and in the corner of thispack they had a small triangle with the words ELC. using my wee 8 year old mind i recognised this as being the sign for the Early Learning Centre toy shop. then i asked my mum and she told me the truth.
But having a smaller brother i still had to "pretend" so the magic never really dies to be honest.
i now have kids of my own and i can believe all over again

I had my doubts when I was 7years old and my mother put out a coke and some chocolate chip cookies for Santa. She did not know that I put a red mark on the drink aND THE NEXT MORNING she told me that he had eaten the cookies and drank to coke. To my dismay, I found the coke in the refrigerator thereby knowing that he was not a real person

I was about 7 - my older cousin Jonathan told me (he also taught me how to stick up your fingers at your parents when you are angry). I don't really remember being devastated though - I think I kinda knew at that age.
Its funny though, because my best friend (23) told her Mother's partner's daughter (10) that father Christmas was not real. She honestly thought that the chid knew. The kid burst into tears her lil world shattered of its christmas magic. My friend feels absolutely terrible now. Still I would have assumed at 10 that most kids have an inkling?
Great question!
