I think its a matter of just escaping the everyday reality and going to a place where you feel good, have fun, and dont have to worry about all the stresses of life for a little while.
I admit i have done some alcohol and drugs in my time but its mainly for that fact of just having a good time and getting crazy for a little while.

I use drugs to keep my blood pressure down, to soothe my joints (I'm arthritic), to prevent heart attack, to keep my gums & connective tissue somewhat elastic.
I use alcohol to relax -I especially enjoy a good beer at the end of the day. I also sometimes use it for cleaning wounds, etc.

I don't do drugs or alcohol. I did at one stage in my life but I saw the Light. (if you catch my meaning)

i don't use drugs or alchohol.
the reason of not using is i think i'm quite young now for them and i don't like those.
