'Tisn't. My favourite colour is the sickly white of freshly erupted pimples.
OK, I'm joking. The reason why pink is so popular is because it's mild and soothing, a soft colour; but it also has a touch of pizzazz. It's certainly a feminine colour, but it's not passive like blue or pale green. It's pretty. You can say a lot with pink.

Because as soon as a girl is born everything they wear is pink, they are given lots of fluffy pink things and pink birhday cards- basically most colour they see is pink. so it is built into a girls mind that they like pink- because they are used to it. However, once girls get to be teenagers they sometimes change this prefernce because thye want to be unique or 'alternative'--- the way it works is abit like subliminal advertising works (the advert keeps flashing up a product, which makes us want to buy it)

For a long time, pink has been commonly considered a color for females only, or for gay men, but this wasn't always so. Henry VIII wore pink, for example (although it was called "rose" at the time -- same color, different name), and he certainly couldn't be called gay. In some cultures, it still is a gender-neutral color.
