The Ganesha Idol should be facing the East...

There is a reason behind this. It is said that when the god faces the rising sun, your home or office or may it be anything...gets illuminated with that rising sun and the place is filled with prosperity and happiness.Evil forces and evil thoughts are kept away from that place.

And it works exactly opposite if the idol is facing the west direction.

There should not be five corners in the ceiling of a room.

If your office has some money related business:

Cash boxes can be located in the room towards the North (treasury). But if the box is heavy (such as a safe, heavy almirah) then it should be kept in the Southwest corner and the door of the almirah should open towards the North.

Hope this information helps !!

The best place is the Ishan Kone (North East Corner) of your Office (Your Room). It is advisable that its back should be outside of the office and it should be facing inside of the office (As it is said that there is prosperity in front of the Lord Ganesha and poverty in his back)......so forget about putting it on the entrance facing outside. If you do it then make sure to put one more idol back to back of that that means to counter the ill effect.

Further, you should keep a separate side/small room/mandir in which you can put this idol and other idols of your choice, the main reason behind it that you must be able to close/shut it after your Pooja, because you should give all your respect when you are praying and keep it shut and do the work the rest of the day. No idol should be visible all day as you can not give respect to it all day.

You can put it facing east if you wish as suggested by one answrer earlier, but keep in mind these things that its back should be (facing) outside of your office and you should make it in-visible during the day other than your prayer time.

All the best!

Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations end with the immersion or Visarjan of clay Ganapati idol in water. Hindus worship Brahman or the Supreme Soul present in all animate and inanimate. But for majority of the people it is not possible to worship this formlessness. They need a form to pray to, to seek help, to cry and to take blessings. Ganesha is ‘OM’ the primordial sound or the first ‘Vaak.’ Nirguna Para Brahman takes the form of Ganesha. Clay and water is mixed to give form to the formlessness. Each person brings Ganesha in clay idol form into the home. This is the Supreme Being arriving at home. After the celebrations, it is time to accept the eternal cosmic law that which took form has to become formless again. It is a never ending cycle (Chakra). The formlessness giving way to form and then moving again towards formlessness. Each year Ganesha arrives to teach us that forms change but the Supreme Truth remains the same. Body perishes but Brahman residing in it remains constant. This body becomes energy for another but the source of energy is the same. Bliss is achieved when we realize this. The act also symbolizes the concept of Moksha, or liberation, in Hinduism. Osho says – ‘Absolute unclinging. That is what is meant by Moksha – freedom – no clinging, not even to gods.’ Thus we create Ganesha out of clay, worship it and later it is submerged (Visarjan). Important: Use only clay Ganesh idol and please do not throw plastic in water. Perform a symbolic immersion in a bucket of water and then use it to water plants. And, methinks, as of playing movie songs or depicting Lord Ganesha in modern clothes is okay if done with full faith & love for Lord Ganesha and should be condemned if it's done to insult Lord Ganesha.

I feel the right place for placing Lord Ganesha's Idol is just opposite to the entrance.Firstly all those who enter will get the full glimpse of God-who is to be bowed to and worshiped as "Prathma";secondly it will give a sense of responsibility and respect in the heart of each person who enters, views and pays his respects to Him;thirdly he will realise that Ganesha is watching them all.The first darshan will inculcate better output without any hassels or mistakes and there will be a good environment all around.Lastly it will instill in each person love and good feeling for others in the work place. So this position seems most appropriate.

The right place for Ganesha is your heart.

Place the idol in a prominent place so that you never miss to look at the idol at any point of time.

i.e. the idol should be in front of your eyes

It should remind you of your integrity, truthfulness, honesty

It is just like your conscience reminding you of your duties
