Rappers that came out in the 90's but still rap like Jay-Z and Nas count for the 90's. But rappers like Nelly and 50 Cent count for today.

Common, Mos Def, Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, these are some of the greatest rappers ever and they all came out of the 90's. Hip-Hop today lacks the essences of real hip-hop and seems very watered down. It seems like rappers are singing and just putting out schemes to get rich off of dances like chicken noodle soup, and all that other garbage. The only rappers I like of today is Kanye West, and Talib Kweli.

If it wasn't for Bobby Brown there would be no hip hop, and back in the 80's when rap took off it was a very real time!
But I find that most of this stuff today is noise, a catchy two line phrase and a dollars store key board and their a star!
It is crazy how the youth is so easily entertained with such trash put out today, I think cell phone and texting is driving them crazy.
This little young teenager that came up to me not to long ago and for some reason she started talking to me upset like I knew her or had said or done some thing to her, she . was saying R Y L something to that affect.
I looked at her and ask if something was wrong I thought she was having a seizure or some thing, My friend I was with I ask what was wrong with her and he said she was speaking in text .
I truly believe after the 90's were over entertainment to a swim and dove from the high dive. Every now and then Some one comes up with a single song that really hits the mark.
Justin Timberline should be ashame of himself, there is one that is dripping in talent skill and gifted but he has sold out to b.s.
I seen him do a little skit with his old boy band ground where he had to lock-it-up and get it done. He showed the whole world what is no seen today in shows. Today's Rapp for the most part s@#$%^.
And hip hop, Country music Rapp, Rock, Bluse, Itall has been trashed out, Is today rapa and hip better that the ninety's, That should ever be ask!!! When when I lisen to oulder rap or any type of music that is older I can seen the relness of it,
Today's music is a bunch of people making it clear they don't clear what talent they lack will be made up in sexuality bad attitude complaining and whining and plagiarizerism .
Honestly, I wish people would listen to the crap called music / entertainment and say no more" we want some quality.
When I know there will always be weak ignorant minded people who can't grasp the concept of this but do you know how much money you are spending on crap entertainment?.

I still don't know. In the 90's the rappers were about being a gangster and selling the most dope, not the best image a music gender can project. Now Its all about sex and leave him to get with me or I got this car and these "hoes" what you got? So ,no , i don't think either is any good the old school rappers are the best!! Run DMC, Grand master flash, Sugar hill.. The ones who innovated rap its self are the best kind.. not gangster rap or this nasty ol sex rap

90's rap for sure back then it was about the struggle about what was happening in society and making it rich but, not forgetting where you came from there was a certain flow of the way things were going and the movement that followed, it was independent and it was untouched by corporate hands.....Now it's ruled by corporations and all you see is Models in video's and there is nothing being spoke about in the community it's just what kind of car they drive or what kind of jewel's they have....Energy Drinks and Clothing lines, it's all propaganda that never and will never make an impact on society....and there is no movement only nonsense I can't even listen to it anymore so I think that today's rapper's have ruined a era of freedom and polictical rise into something thats is bubblegum radio and it makes me sick

Well Duh. Today's rapper's aren't exactly doing anyone proud not even their mothers. 90s rappers stood for something, had something to say. These clowns are on a get-rich-quick scheme. Its the very machine they dispise so much in their rap that is feeding this trash to the kids these days. Its a vicious cycle but I still have faith

Offhand Id say flush every rapper should be catapulted into space where there is no sound

except grandmaster flash, and maybe Eric B and Rakim.
