"Abraham Martin and John" by Marvin Gaye.

Ok maybe a bit soppy by today's tastes but when one considers the greatness of the named individuals, their fate and compare them to the pygmies in power today, it kind of gets the message through that politics doesn't have to be the way it is.

I Get Along - Pet Shop Boys, written about Peter Mandelson, also I'm With Stupid, about Blair and Bush, the lyrics are hilarious! I'm pretty sure Radiohead's 2+2=5 is about them too, in reference to the war in Iraq. California Uber Alles - Dead Kennedys. The Love Of Richard Nixon - Manic Street Preachers. Impeach My Bush - Peaches.

'Piggies' on The White Album, by the Beatles, or 'Taxman', also the Beatles, but on the Revolver album. My boyfriend says Bruce Dickonson, 'I Want To Be Elected' or 'Alice's Restaurant' by Arlo Guthrie. (Alice's Restaurant is great!). Also 'Cheer/I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die Rag' by Country Joe McDonald and The Fish. This last one is on The Best of Woodstock Album by Atlantic Records. Its basically about the Vietnam War...very good!

Henry Kissinger
how I'm missing yer
you're the hero of my dreams
with your wavy hair
and your icy stair
and your machiavelian schemes...

"California Uber Alles" Dead Kennedies
I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles and never frowns

We're finally on our own
In the summer I hear the drumming
Four dead in Ohio

But she doesn't have a lot to say...

Written for and about then Governor of California Ronal Reagan....or, as they called him, even then, Ronald Ray-guns

Drug Store Truck Drivin' Man
Words and Music by Gram Parsons and Roger McGuinn

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

Well, he's got him a house on the hill
He plays country records till you've had your fill
He's a fireman's friend he's an all night DJ
But he sure does think different from the records he plays

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

Well, he don't like the young folks I know
He told me one night on his radio show
He's got him a medal he won in the War
It weighs five-hundred pounds and it sleeps on his floor

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

He's been like a father to me
He's the only DJ you can hear after three
I'm an all night musician in a rock and roll band
And why he don't like me I can't understand

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

'Stand Down Margaret' by The Beat. Could be applied to Blair too. I always like Maggie's Farm by Dylan when applied to the Thatcher era too. That's where my political history is, with the Thatcher era and the miner's strike, the Falklands War (sorry Conflict), etc. Also 'Thatcher, Thatcher, milk snatcher' was pretty catchy in the playgrounds.
