If it weren't for men, they would not have the privilege of life and therefore would not be able to complain about them.

The thing is that we have NO control over not being childbearerers, so why hold it over our heads? If you've been walked out on after pregnancy that's one thing, but what about all the good, hard working men who support their wives and help raise their children, or for that matter what about single dads who do their best to raise their kids? Do they not matter just because you have a tunnel-visioned agenda?

You obviously think that feminists resent men. This is not true feminists are people either men or women that recognize the both sexes should be compensated equally for the work that they do. A feminist understands the power imbalances in this world as a result of a largely patriarchal society and tries to correct them. Feminists are also concerned about vulnerable populations and preserving the earth from further damages causes by all of mankind. You have a terrilbe idea of what a feminist is and why don't you check out the actual definition in a dictionary or go to wikipedia.

This rant has obviously been inspired by the radical Andrea Dworkin type of feminist, who may I say does seem to have touched a nerve. Because some women don't want to devalue themselves in the eyes of men, they renounce feminism. However, every woman that wants to be paid an equal wage to a man is really a feminist, as this still doesn't happen today a lot of the time. Feminists don't all wear dungarees and have short hair and flat shoes. Camille Paglia is well noted for her championing of Madonna as a powerful positive sex model for women, for example. What most men really don't realise is the degree of diversity that exists in modern feminism, that to reduce it to this one statement is ridiculous. I beleive what has really happened here is someone is feeling defensive and has hit out with a stupid, derogatory throwaway comment to make himself feel better. Obviously men and women cannot live without each other, but it's so easy for a man to say it is an equal enterprise when he doesn't have to expand to the size of a small bus, get piles and blood clots in the legs, swollen and sore body parts, and then at the end squeeze out a life form the size of a small watermelon through a passage normally more used to, say, something the size of a sausage.

I'm not a feminist. As a human being though I do believe I should have the right to make my own decisions concerning my life (except for abortion I am pro-life). I think as a society we should celebrate our differences rather than oppress them. Women have been oppressed and they still are in many ways. Women should have the right to breasfeed in public. Porn should be considered a major crime and it should be illegal. Women should be protected from violence. I could go on and on. I don't think we are better than men. We need each other and that is that. Yes, I can do most things for myself but I still enjoy it when my husband opens the door for me.

I understand you were attempting to make an intelligent point, but you don't appear to have much concept of feminism.....it is not about prejudice against men, but fighting for equal rights.

Secondly, your comment, 'if it weren't for men, they would not have the privilege of life and therefore would not be able to complain about them' is a little silly. Men allowed equal rights, but they shouldn't have prevented them in the first place. You only have yourselves to blame for that one, so don't tell us we should be appreciative for something we have always deserved to have.....equality.

HTH.

Well, you may have hung yourself a little bit here, but at least you started a good debate. And just for the record, my own beliefs on a movement or system, of sorts are never based on the example of any one person. Therefore, my beliefs on feminism, would not be based or molded by one person who is showcasing it to be trashy, or "the right thing to do". However the person that pissed you off to make you want say that,... you shouldn't base your beliefs about feminism on that one person. Think for yourself. It's ok, it only hurts at first. lol.

*ahem* I have never seen a man carry the burden of the "privilege of life" (pregnancy). Until I see that, I have to say that it takes two to make a baby, therefore men wouldn't be here without women and vice versa.

I think you have missed the boat on what feminism actually is. It is not a chance for women to complain about men, it is a movement in which women attempt to gain social, political and economic *equality* with men. We are not trying to prove our superiority over men, we just would like to be treated as equals.

The funny thing is that there are certain feminists shouting they can do everything a man can and then a huge cupboard needs to be shifted down the hall...that is where radical feminism ends and the help of man is desperately needed once more. lol

Do You really worry about those "feminists"----
so called "women in comfortable shoes".
Go out and find real girls.

You will have more fun... Life can be so great
to male and FEMALE humans. What do "feminists" know
about life and "the facts of life"--- Nothing I guess.

If they keep it up, there will come a time when the enemy is taking over in a big way and there will be no one to protect them. Let them see if they're really able, by themselves.
