should the US government consider having a stricter control over arms. what do you think?

Well, stricter control over arms is one approach. I spent a few weeks in Britain recently. While they did have a major arms bust in the suburbs of London, they also seemed to be very concerned about stabbing deaths in the absence of guns. Most purchases of swords and other large blades had recently been banned in Scotland, for instance.

I was once on a public bus in a bad neighborhood in a US city, and the man who sat next to me was selling knives constructed in such a way as to inflict maximum damage on human flesh. I mentioned this to my sister, a medical doctor, but she said a stab wound from that kind of knife does very little when compared to a gunshot wound.

Another approach that gets kicked around is less violence in the media, since research does link violent acts in TV, movies, or video games with violent behavior. But that idea doesn't have legs either. The truth is, when you talk about limiting access to guns and Hollywood violence, some folks feel you are striking at the very heart of what it means to be American--which is fairly disturbing in itself. Especially when you think about how much money the US makes selling weapons to foreign countries, and how many US guns get exchanged for drugs in international transactions.

I'm a teacher who has kept kids indoors for recess for three weeks of beautiful weather when the "Beltway Snipers" were at large. When the police released the note that said, "Your children are not safe anywhere," I got up, went to school, and tried to help the students have as normal a day as possible.

I've had to participate in drills where we prepared students for the possibility that they might be locked inside the school for a few days with the windows and doors sealed and school staff unable to let their parents in or anybody out. Once I opted not to tell students that they'd been locked inside the school because someone called in a bomb threat. There didn't seem to be any point in sharing that information with ten-year-olds. I have filed police reports on students who have harrassed me, and I once taught a student whose brother was in prison for murdering his teacher.

The truth I have to live with is that we can never completely eliminate school shootings. Even if every student in the school gets the mental health care they need, the danger may come in from outside the school. It can happen on any day, and it can happen at any school. It could happen tomorrow. It could happen at my school. That's a tough truth to live with, but I can't make it go away.

One access to the grounds that have a parameter fence.
All doors are key access except the main door
The main door is the only one unlocked but leads directly into the school office, which the office staff is behind a bullet proof glass.
Metal detectors at the main door
Multiple cameras that are monitored by at least two people in a secure location in the building while there are people in the school.
Three armed guards, preferably plain clothed.
Regular searches of lockers, book bags, gym bags and purses. Public property that my taxes pay for, so students have NO RIGHT TO PRIVACY.
Allow teachers to carry. There is a perception that a student could get their hands on a weapon. Yeah, that's not going to happen with proper training a triple retention holster that is concealed or a biometric gun safe in a desk. A teacher that cannot pass a background check to get a firearm shouldn't be teaching anyway. This a choice a teacher should have the right to make.
I'll admit it I'm not happy with the idea of arming teachers considering that they can't behave themselves with students, but Basic Human nature is go where the resistance is the weakest and a no gun sign is an invitation to those who want to slaughter innocents. If there is a chance that these monsters think for one moment that they won't be able to accomplish whatever their sick mind is desiring isn't it worth it? Another question, "What would happen if the media didn't cover them at all?"

nicely in my section we do have a police officer at each and every college and we in basic terms had a school capturing so as that did not help something, we've the hot wands yet they could in basic terms do random searches. we've the bell the position you may want to be rung into the college. i think as if music, television and information superhighway has demolished the more youthful young children of on the instantaneous they are uncovered to terrible issues, even as i became youthful we did not have cellphones and information superhighway noone might want to how one can make bombs and so on. So i think possibly we'd want to continually have everyones fb or any type of social networking monitored. father and mom must be contained in the youngsters lives more effective and stop attempting to be their acquaintances. i do not realize why everyone is saying psychological ailment became this kind of priority in this...sure he became mentally sick yet me as a figure would see my baby appearing loopy and would get them help....So do not tell me there's no funding for this baby to get help...any clinical institution might want to've kept someone like this and considered by him....i do not comprehend what else might want to be achieved at colleges except you've a cop sit down in each and every class room and that takes away allllll young children freedom...or perhaps as someone says God in colleges im sorry yet as a lot as i position self assurance in god how is that going to stop those situations from occurring.

It is that wicked atheist witch who got prayer taken out of schools. How dare her go against the Lord God! She is dead now. I would not want to be in her shoes on judgement day.
Answer to question: bring prayer back in school, quit teaching evolution but instead teach the Gospel of the Lord Our God and you will be suprised! I grew up in the 1970's and we had prayer in school. I don't ever remember even one incident of anyone ever bringing a gun or any kind of weapon to school. Also keep social workers out of parents business when a parent diciplines their child. There is nothing wrong with a good old fashion spanking. Also, the government is trying to kill us off with all these vaccines and chemicals to lower the population. Why would they care if kids brought guns to school? Bush needs to be impeached. We need good, honest Christian leaders to run this country. As of now, our country is going to hell.

GUN CONTROL IS NOT THE ANSWER.....
You have to control the idiots committing the acts. Take away the guns and they'll find something else to use....propane tanks, car bombs, toilet seats, whatever.
It isn't the guns that kill it is the people behind them.
......Some of you out there really scare me with your logic and to think you also vote.....

Stop the gun lobby in the US, the NRA, National Rifle Association. They have way too much power on their hands and are of course supported by Bush. Stop that first although, it will be impossible. No President has ever been able or willing enough.
