Health care worker wearing the uniforms when shopping bother me far less than the dirty shopping carts people are pushing around. Those things are loaded with germs. health care workers have to practice a certain standard precaution so they don't make themselves sick so trust me they are cleaner than most of the things you will come in contact with while shopping.

I'm a health professional....podiatrist....and i wear mine whilst shopping but i do take your point though. It doesnt look good but it also depends on which health professionals we are talking about. I deal with lots of exuding wounds but i wear a plastic apron over the uniform so no form of cross contamination there as such. Its the NHS Trusts policy that no-one should wear their health uniforms to and from work. Maybe its time to change.?

Depends on what unit the health professionals work and what they have been exposed to, I work in Peds and if the children are very contagious we have to wear protective gowns...............and some people who wear scrubs work in dr offices or home health????????????

it really scares me thatnursed actually weartheir uniforms to do things besides work especially on their lunch break. however, in their favour, scrubs really are comfortable, and as long as its after work, it should be fine, assuming they wash them afterwards.

No, as long as they washed their hands with anti-bacterial soap, it would not be unhygenic.
