Does anyone know of any make-up that actually stays put, I have tried loads, foundation that promises 12 hour cover has disapperaed by lunchtime.
I have quite a red colouring aswell so need something to tone it down but don't want it to look caked on. I do however want to look nicely made up but want it to stay. Any help would be appreciated.

Re the Estee Lauder Range, is there one in particular or should I just go to their counter.
Thanks

Hi, I hate all liquid foundations and cannot get any to stay put. The best thing I find is a good foundation powder - Clinique's Super Double Face Powder £16.50 is excellent. You need to apply with a good quality powder puff a few minutes after moisturising your skin (so the skin is still slightly tacky). Once applied spray your face with a fine mist of water (evian do a great thermal water spray in Boots) this will set the makeup without drying out your skin.

You can still use concealer underneath if you need to but this gives a great coverage by itself and comes in lots of shades.

Once you have finished doing the rest of your makeup you can spray again to set the blusher, eyeshadow etc.

I swear by this and have converted all my friends. I have gone straight from work out partying and look exactly the same by the end of the night! Its also a nice compact so you can take it in your handbag and touch up any shiney bits throughout the day if you need to.

Good luck!

L

I know what you mean where exactly does it go? I have problems because my skin so greasy I don't know if yours is but I use I mattifying moisturiser (Clarins) otherwise my foundation would just slide off somewhere, then I apply Estee Lauder matte mousse its brilliant its £21 but its lasts on my skin and the bottle itself lasts longer than any other foundation I have used, I then use a cheaper brand of pressed powder. If you go to the estee lauder counter they will choose you the right colour for skin which is really important.

If you have a bit of money to spend, the Estee Lauder foundation range is very good at lasting all day, especially if combined with the powder, which keeps it in place, and prevents it rubbing off when you touch your face. I swear by it, and it is worth the investment, as they both last for ages!

I extremely have a similar situation, and that i do some thing extremely unusual to make my makeup stay. purchase Co Bigelow's Rose Salve from bathtub and body Works for better or less 5 money or so. Rub all of it over your face and then word your makeup. that's low-cost and it extremely works better effective than maximum primers. that's guarenteed that your makeup gained't come off! And, that's a finished turn-on with adult men even as your face smells like roses!

I'm wondering if you've ever tried a foundation primer. Philosphy has one that I adore, The Present Clear Makeup. Not only does it help your foundation last longer, but it makes your skin look flawless. I think it cost about $25. Sephora also makes a nice one that's half the price and is slightly shimmery. I'd also make sure to use a powder, either colored or translucent, after I was done with my makeup to set it.

The best thing is preparation. You need to use a good primer. you can get one from No.7 at Boots or I sometimes use BeneFit Dr FeelGood.
If you suffer from redness... you need to use a GREEN concealer. believe me it works! you don't need an expensive concealer.
Use green concealer and primer and your make up should stay on longer.
although I really don't think anything stays on all day long...they just say that to make money!
Good luck x

Why don't you go to Boots or John Lewis's (for example) make up department and grab a few samples? If you explain what you're after, they will give you some freebies to take home and experiment with. You can then make your own mind up about what suits your skin. Good luck.

Bare Escentuals Bare Mineral foundation. No question, it's simply brilliant. You can buy it on Ebay. Feels like you're not wearing make-up, covers everything even extreme redness.

I would try almost any brand of mineral makeup which has great adhesion and coverage but its a powder so it feels so natural and light. Its also good for your skin with natural acne soothers and sunscreen. Try everydayminerals.com or on ebay try searching mineral makeup in other brands of makeup. But you might not like the national brand bare minerals because it looks shiny with the bismuth oxychloride in it.

I just wonder if you have used a facial powder lightly over your make up, this usually works and do not stop using the foundation
