If your ram is bad, you might not be able to boot up your system. Even if it can boot up, it wil hang frequently and damage your other hardware as well. My advise is CHANGE IT

I haven't heard of a case of defective ram actually damaging other hardware and I can't think of any way that can happen however depending on what exactly is wrong with the stick it can have effects varrying from slow performance to total shutdown. Good news is most known brands have lifetime warranties so u can get a new stick unless it's an unbranded one.

Ram is kind of a "short cut" for your CPU. With damaged RAM your CPU would work over time cause continual freezing and maybe even complete wipe out. I would say to change it.

well if you stress your cpu enough it will over eat and fry! Not to mention possibly fry motherboard and damage almost anything connected to it. The smell of a burn motherboard is nasty!
